What is SCIENCE ?

"SCIENCE is a way of thinking"

It simply means knowledge. It is the concerted human efforts to understand or to understand better, the history of the natural world and how the natural world works. We at CollegeMELA provide you a thorough knowledge of all the extremes of science to help to clear the idea of what is best suitable for you in particular.

There are three main branches of science-

1. Physical Science 2. Earth Science 3. Life Science

1. Physical science- The sciences concerned with the study of inanimate natural objects. It includes physics, chemistry, astronomy

  • Physics- The branch of science concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. The subject matter of physics includes mechanics, heat, light and other radiation, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms.
  • Chemistry- The branch of science concerned with the substances of which matter is composed, the investigation of their properties and reactions, and the use of such reactions to form new substances.
  • Astronomy- It is the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, galaxies, dust and other non-Earthly bodies and phenomena
  1. Earth science- The branch of science dealing with the physical constitution of the earth and its atmosphere. It includes geology, oceanography, meteorology and palaeontology
  • Geology- the science which deals with the physical structure and substance of the earth, their history, and the processes which act on them.
  • Oceanography- the branch of science that deals with the physical and biological properties and phenomena of the sea.
  • Meteorology-the branch of science concerned with the processes and phenomena of the atmosphere, especially as a means of forecasting the weather.
  • Palaeontology- the branch of science concerned with fossil animals and plants.
  1. Life science- The life sciences comprise the branches of science that involve the scientific study of living organisms – such as microorganisms, plants, animals, and human beings – as well as related considerations like bioethics. It includes botany, zoology, ecology, genetics, medicine.
  • Botany- Botany is the scientific study of plants. "Plants," to most people, means a wide range of living organisms from the smallest bacteria to the largest living things - the giant sequoia trees. By this definition plants include: algae, fungi, lichens, mosses, ferns, conifers and flowering plants.
  • Zoology- The scientific study of the behaviour, structure, physiology, classification, and distribution of animals.
  • Ecology- the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.
  • Genetics-Genetics is the study of genes, genetic variation, and heredity in living organisms. It is generally considered a field of biology, but intersects frequently with many other life sciences and is strongly linked with the study of information systems.
  • Medicine-Medicine is the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. There are various career options you can opt for.
