PM Narendra Modi Made Awareness About NEP 2020 on its Anniversary

Narendra Modi, the prime Minister of India, addressed the nation to mark the first anniversary of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The Prime Minister addressed the nation at 4:30 PM in the anniversary event. The Prime Minister decided to launch multiple initiatives in the education system.

 

The following key initiatives were launched on 29 July 2020

  • National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was replaced by the National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986.
  • The National Education Policy was launched to increase the investment of education in India up to 6% of total GDP.
  • National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) and National Education Technology Forum (NETF) to provide the digital and technological framework to India.
  • Vidya Pravesh is an initiative to provide access to playschools to the parents and children who are living in remote areas.
  • Launching of Indian sign language as a subject at Secondary level.
  • NISHIDA 2.0, an integrated program designed by NCERT for teacher training.
  • SAFAL and assessment framework based on competency for grades 3,5 and 8 in CBSE schools.
  • A website for Artificial Intelligence (AI) 
  • Academic bank of credit System to promote academic mobility, and multiple entry and exit options for students in Higher Education.
  • Launching of 1st year Engineering programs in regional languages. Additionally, guidelines for the Internationalization of Higher Education will also be launched in regional languages.

 

National Education Policy 2020 is the first education policy in the 21st century. It was one of the unique and systematic initiatives in the education system. The education system in India had been following the thirty-four-year-old National Policy on education since 1986.
