Counseling for NEET-MDS admissions will be held from 20 august to 10 October 2021. The decision was taken by the Centre on Wednesday. The Centre said that they will consider counseling for NEEt-MDS admissions. The exams of NEEt-MDS were held last year on 16 December and the results were released on 31 December 2020.
There was a delay in holding the counseling. So, the court had asked the petitioners why the center had not held the counseling since last year. The direction to the MCC to conduct separate counseling for the 2021 batch was sought by the plea.
“It is most respectfully submitted that umpteen efforts were made by the petitioners to get in touch with the respondents to get an idea about the schedule of counseling. However, there has been no update about the date of the commencement of the counseling,” said the plea.
The Centre had announced a 27 percent quota for OBCs and a 10 percent reservation for the economically weaker section (EWS) in the All-India Quota (AIQ) on 29 July 2021. This was a scheme for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical and dental courses. It is applicable from the current academic year 2021-22.
The NEET-MDS exams were conducted last year and the results were also released on 31 December. But the counseling date for the students was not released till this time. Therefore, a plea was filed in the Supreme Court by nine students. They challenged the “unjust and infinite delay” done by the MCC. The plea also stated that there has not been any update since the declaration of the results.
